Designed by R. Lee Ermey, AKA “The Gunny”, the knife bearing his name was the last project he worked on before his passing in 2018. Created to be an all-purpose, single tool option, the Gunny Knife is made in the USA with a coated 1095 Cro-Van blade and Webb Wood laminate composite handles.
Blade: Black coated 1095 Cro-Van high carbon tool steel is delivered in a Bolo profile that delivers forward weighted chopping power while still retaining versatility for other tasks. Saber ground for durability, the recurve blade offers a good balance of cutting performance and durability with a prominent top swedge to enhance piercing performance. Black coating on the blade provides added corrosion resistance while the 1095CV carbon steel is easily sharpened to a razor like edge.
Handle: The full tang blade supports composite engineered Webb Wood handles that offer the classic look and feel of wood with the enhanced performance of modern composite materials. The handles are contoured for comfort and work with the pronounced guard to offer a secure and comfortable grip for a variety of tasks. An exposed section of the tang can be used for tasks that could otherwise cause damage to the cutting edge and has a hole for lanyard attachment.
Sheath: Carries via a high quality leather belt sheath with dual snap closure and accessory pouch.
1095 Cro Van: Based on 1095 carbon steel with the addition of small amounts of Vanadium, Molybdenium, Nickel and Chrome for improved wear resistance and toughness. Easy to sharpen, takes a fine edge, non-stainless and requires care to prevent corrosion.
